EMILY + RYAN | DESERTED CAMP ENGAGEMENT
What an adventure we had...I'm calling it an adventure because owning up to the ugly side would take away from the excitement. Let me explain, first a little history...
I've known Emily for a ridiculous amount of years...her big sister Alyssa is one of my best friends and one of my former subjects. When Emily got engaged to her love, I squirmed inside with excitement...then she called, we both had a freak out moment, then took some time to settle the details.
She's marrying Ryan, her stud-muffin farmer, at the end of August on Ryan's family farm. It's going to be magical. JCrew meets cornfields.
In June, I made my way to Nebraska to photograph these two for their engagement photos. Nebraska is way cooler than I expected. Mainly because Emily and Ryan know their stuff. We had good food and good times, it was a double date for the ages (my boyfriend tagged along).
The engagement shoot itself, however, was not the best time. Don't get me wrong, Emily and Ryan are perfect...these images, are perfect. But don't be fooled, the entire shoot we were being absolutely murdered by mosquitos. It was terrible. You wouldn't believe how many mosquitos I Photoshopped out of these photos...swarming like little monsters around their heads.
But it didn't ruin anything, nature can't get us down. I still have scars from the bites, but these photos are worth it. The realness and romance and authenticity of this is so great...I love you two, I love your love, thank you for letting me be a part of it.
